This is the largest oil field in the Gulf of Sirte situated in concession 6 at a distance of 170 Km south of Brega Port, the location of the first producing well in the county. This field was put on production in 1961. Up to the 30th June (Assaif) 1993 the accumulated production of Zelten reached 2241 MMB of oil and 1506 billion standard cubic feet of associated gas.
The 229 wells in Zelten are on production by gas lifting as this has proved to be the most effective way of utilizing natural gas in this field.
In addition to the oil and gas production facilities, Zelten field includes also a modern camp containing living and recreation facilities for the field personnel.
Located in the north of concession 6, in the Sirte Basin 70 Km south of Brega, Hateiba is the second largest gas field in Jamahiriya after Attahaddy field.
Drilling began in this field in May 1960 with exploration well G-A; and to date; 19 wells have been drilled in this field . By mid 1993 Hateiba accumulated production reached 815 billion cubic feet of gas transmitted to Brega via a 30" pipe line.
Located in concession (20) this field has 80 wells producing high gravity 43° oil. The first exploration well in this field was drilled in January 1961. Raguba field was put on production in 1963, and from that date until mid 1993; the field produced 683 million standard barrels of oil and 859 billion standard cubic feet of associated gas. Raguba is also provided with excellent living and recreation facilities.
This large gas field will be the latest addition to SOC production fields. It is in the commissioning phase at this time. The field is located about 120 km. So. of Brega facilities, designed to produce 275 MMSCF of treated natural gas. and 32 million brl. of condensate.
